Meow Will Keep My Body Safe – Album Launch

Ben Buchanan’s debut album ‘Meow Will Keep My Body Safe’ is stunning– ambitious in scope, but in a way that makes you want to curl up under the covers; it’s playful but reflective, delicate but refreshing. Please join us for a cosy night of songs and poems at the Bird to celebrate the album’s belated release, for what might be our most wholesome event yet!

Supporting him on the night will be Jess Lennon and Neish P, two beautifully honest word sharers and world builders who wear their hearts on their sleeves.

Tickets $10 unwaged and $15 waged on the door (message us if this is out of reach and we will give you a comp ticket, or if you want to pay more than $15 to support the artists!)

Poster by Luka Buchanan!

Artists

Ben Buchanan

Ben Buchanan (he/him) is a composer and cellist based in Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar (Perth). He is passionate about collaborating with like-minded artists through both improvised and exploratory music, as well as creating solo lo-fi freak folk projects. His compositions are texturally driven, pop-inspired and characterised by their eccentricity and whimsy.

Ben will be supported by Zoe and Luke :3

Jess Lennon

Jess is a queer artist, poet, spoken word performer, sensitive soul, and heartfelt lover with a fond interest in all things strange and whimsical. Her work is deeply introspective and observant, and she is a passionate believer and advocate for slow creation, experimental play, mutual aid, magic, and interconnectedness. Offering personal wisdom from a steadfast and curiously foolish standpoint, her peculiar and honest spirit is reflected in her collections of words.

Jess will be supported by Arielle, Claire, and Izzy :o)

Neish

Neish (they/them) is an autistic artist and poet based in Walyalup/Fremantle who enjoys finger painting, patterns and repetition and birds. Cats, clouds, collecting rubbish for craft. Maths and skateboarding, funny voices. They write playful poetry, sometimes sad poetry or just random poetry. And they also love to sing. Neish shares some stories set in a fairy land adjacent to our human land, blends in some Tourette’s and numbers and also sing songs about a cat.
