Exploring Sound: with Contact Mics and Found Objects

A free, introductory workshop designed for young people (aged 16-25) to
experiment with contact microphones and create improvised sounds using
objects.

A contact microphone senses audio vibrations through contact with solid objects, unlike normal microphones that sense audio vibrations in the air. This allows for a fascinating exploration of sound in a tactile and immersive way.

Participants will have the opportunity to:
1. Learn the basics of using contact microphones
2. Experiment with creating sounds from everyday objects
3. Combine sound with other art forms such as movement and tactile arts

This free workshop is presented with thanks to the City of Melville for their support.
